Analysis of Pop Video 2 - Girls Aloud

This song by Girls Aloud called ‘The Promise’ is also very typical of a pop song. Many of the same conventions and concepts are used just like in the Miley Cyrus video. These may be typical as they are both girls singing, therefore they will have a lot in common.

Within the video many types of colours are used to make the video look fun and joyful. The costumes are very colourful such as the shiny dresses when they are on stage, but also when they are sitting down in the car. This is put here for a reason as it helps appeal to the younger audience such as the little girls who look up to them. Moreover, the location and setting makes the video a lot more interesting. In addition, the effect of them watching themselves makes the video original and stimulating. Small things like this are key to a successful music video.
A large variety of cinematography was used within the music video. For example, many types of angles were used. A specific moment was when one of the singers was standing up and a low angle shot was used. A low angle shot is used to make them look important and powerful. This may have been put here for promotional reasons. For example, as an audience were are literally looking up to them and making them seemed like they have a higher authority. In addition, the music video includes many of interesting shots such as medium shots through other objects. For example, a specific shot was when they were sitting in the car and the camera was being shown through the car window. Having a variety of different shots prevents viewer fatigue and makes it more pleasing.
